So we decided to build. Two builders from Amsterdam who started out bored, kept making things, and wanted a room full of people doing the same. That room became European Builders: a community for people who build in Europe, and stay.
How it started
In 2024 we both joined Buildspace, a builder program from San Francisco. It had an energy neither of us had felt before: the builder energy. We gave each other feedback on Twitter and found out we wanted the same thing. Not just in San Francisco. In Europe.
The first investor Robbin pitched burned the idea to the ground. It became fuel. Robbin texted Rick: “Hey, I have some ideas, come over.” Rick was in almost instantly.
It started as DAY42, in Robbin's office on the Raadhuisstraat: an open evening where you bring a personal project, work on it, and show it to a room full of strangers. Today those Build Nights take place at venues like Mollie, and the people who show up keep coming back.
“You can compare building your startup with running a marathon. If you'd run it by yourself, it would probably be way harder. Every Build Night is a little sprint where we support you to get to the finish line.”

Who runs it
Robbin Jansen
Co-founder
Started building at 20, during COVID, in his bedroom at his parents' house. Turned his freelance work into Future Ready, a venture studio behind ventures like Crelo and Rivilo. As a kid he wanted to be an inventor like Willie Wortel.
A self-taught builder for nine years. Runs no-code studio Uncode, started the No-Code Community in the Netherlands, spent four years rebuilding Young Creators and built RunClubs.nl. Lives by his mom's advice: “doe het dan”.
“We underestimate the power of motivating each other. It can create huge momentum.” Robbin
Learn from one step ahead
“You will learn way more from someone who's just one step ahead than someone who's 10 or 20.” Robbin
Fail forward
When something doesn't work out, the question is: what's the next thing you'll work on? One builder in our community has tried five different things and keeps going.
Build like it's play
A safe builder space, not a hackathon. “If you fall down, you're not falling alone.” Rick
